Week 7 > English w/Kovach
Happy Friday, Roadrunners!
Thanks to everyone that helped me celebrate my birthday on Tuesday. You have some amazing little bakers. I appreciate all of you.
For being a four day week, it seemed to take forever. I think we were all ready for the weekend. A quick note on tutoring. Many students are taking advantage of our Math and ELA tutoring. It is before school, during lunch, or after school and they should be doing two sessions a week. Please check with your student to make sure they know when to go and please ask if you have any questions.
Please see below for what we worked on this week:
English IV: We discussed the Medieval Period and had a comprehension quiz and then we had our first read of Beowulf. We spent some time going over missing work, redoing assignments and catching up on reading. Students have just one short week left to finish reading their books. Please encourage them to read over the weekend.
English III: We talked about Early America and had a comprehension quiz. We then read some excerpts from the Constitution of the Iroquois Nation and worked on putting it into our own words. We spent some time going over missing work, redoing assignments and catching up on reading. Students have just one short week left to finish reading their books. Please encourage them to read over the weekend.
English AP/DE: This week we talked Narration and read several excerpts all while focusing on the narrator and the narrator’s motives. We also tied in our discussion on characterization last week. Next week we will discuss Plot in detail.
English I-Honors: We began a new read, “The Necklace”, and we will begin our in depth discussion of it next week. This week has been a lot of fun with this group; we spent some time working on our class door for our yearly NFL door competition.
That is everything for now. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Have a great weekend!
