Kovach’s English Announcements > Week 29
Happy Friday, Roadrunners.
We made it another week and are now 1 week away from Spring Break. Next week we have 3 half days (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday); please remember that teaching does not stop on these days. The clock keeps on ticking, so if a student is absent they will be responsible for what they missed. If you know your child will be gone, please have them check in with me and I can tell them what they should work on so they don’t fall behind.
Please see below for what your student worked on this week:
English IV > We continued our discussion on Satire, looked over several examples, and learned about the time period leading up to “A Modest Proposal”. We did our first read through and the students were shocked. I can’t wait to discuss it further next week.
English III > We are finally nearing completion of our Argument Essays; it has been a long and slow journey. This week we worked on counterclaims, integrating evidence, and taking part in peer review. Final Drafts are due on Monday.
English II Honors > We started the week with the notMYkid presentation on vaping. We then continued our discussion on Human Rights and looked at several historical instances where those rights were violated. This was an eye-opener. We finished out the week by reading some Holocaust poetry written by children in the Terezin Concentration Camp.
AP/DE > This week was all about diction and the perspective that the author is trying to convey. We read a few memoir excerpts and tried our hand at imitating them.
That is everything for now. Please have a great weekend. As always, I am here if you have any questions or concerns.
Quick reminder that I am on campus most days around 7:30 and am here until 4. I am available for study hall/extra help at this time either in person or virtually. Just reach out.
Best,
Ms. Kovach
