English w/Kovach > Week 35

 In English III, English IV

Happy Friday!

Testing is finally behind us and we can get back to our regularly scheduled programming. As of this writing, there are 25 days left of school, which means crunch time for a lot of these kiddos. We’ve become a bit lazy this quarter and I am really hoping we can turn this around and finish the year strong. I know these kids are capable of doing great things; they just need to be reminded.

As you know…the paper drive is in full force. Currently I am in the lead and I am hoping to continue that lead. The drive ends May 7th and the winning teacher gets a $100 gift certificate to use for their classroom. I could really use that to purchase  much needed books.

See below for what your student is working on:

English IV: We finished our unit on Romantic Poetry and the students couldn’t be more relieved. We are now venturing into the world of Dystopia. Each student has their own book to read and they NEED to be reading nightly.

English III: We are nearing the end of our Short Story Unit, with their unit exam next Friday. All work for these stories must be completed by that time. Check with your kiddo to see if they are missing anything.

English II-Honors: Since we had testing Monday and Tuesday, we didn’t get much farther in our text. However, we did discuss The Writer’s Craft, Symbolism and Figurative Language. I look forward to getting back on track next week.

English AP/DE: Our book clubs are in full swing and so far things seem to be running smoothly. The discussions are full and everyone seems to be engaged and enjoying their choice. Make sure that your student is reading every night. Some of these books are really long and with Book Club discussions weekly, they need to stay on task.

I think that is everything for now. Please if you have any questions or need to get your student some extra help send them my way. I am here to help them!

Have a great weekend.
