English w/Kovach > Week 27

 In English III, English IV

Happy Friday, Roadrunners!

Teachers were spoiled today by our very own Brooke Taylor; love was definitely in the air. We are so lucky to have a great support team!

Quick reminder that there is no school on Monday as it is President’s Day. Please see below for what we worked on this week:

English IV: We spent the week putting the finishing touches on our Romeo and Juliet workbook and then began our final projects. They are due Wednesday, so make sure that your student is working on it over the long weekend.

English III: We reviewed topic sentences, claims, and evidence and then worked on writing our own. By Tuesday, students should have an introduction and three body paragraphs. Check in with them to make sure they are not behind. Please check your student’s grades to ensure they are turning all their work in.

English II-Honors: We celebrated completing To Kill a Mockingbird by watching the movie. We then discussed the main differences between the book and the movie and why directors make the choices they do. Next week we start our unit on Humanity vs. Inhumanity.

English AP/DE: Debate #1 happened this week and it went well. It was a bit of a learning curve with our debate teams partially online, but I think we got a system that worked out eventually and the debate went well. We will do debate #2 on Tuesday.

That is everything for now. I hope you have a great Valentine’s Day.

Best,

Ms. Kovach
