English w/Kovach > Week 17

In AP English Literature, English I Honors, English III, English IV

Happy Friday, Roadrunners!

It has been a crazy, yet wonderful two weeks. It was so nice getting to spend the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving with so many students.  How refreshing it was to just relax and visit with one another. I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving break.

Quick reminder that all assignments, for all classes, are due by December 10th. Please also keep in mind that no work beyond two weeks will be accepted.

We started MAP testing yesterday and will continue to do so through Monday. I am excited to see how much growth these kids have mid-year. Please see below for what we’ve been working on:

English I-Honors: We have started our unit on Banned Books and Censorship. You may have seen permission slips floating around and yes, some of the books that need permission are ones you would least expect. We have already had some great conversations regarding censorship and there are some very strong opinions in this class. I’m excited to continue this unit.

English III and English IV: We are still working on our narratives and their rough drafts must be completed by Monday. The Final Draft will be due Thursday.

English AP Literature: We had to pivot a bit due to some extenuating circumstances, but what we are currently working on will greatly benefit the students. We spent this week analyzing a single poem in small groups. Starting next Tuesday, students will be leading the discussion and teaching a lesson to the class on their poems. I’m excited to see the different ways students analyze and choose to share their knowledge.

And now a word from Mrs. Tischer….
