English w/Kovach > Week 10

In AP English Literature, English I Honors, English III, English IV

Happy Friday, Roadrunners!

With the first three days consisting of half days and parent teacher conferences and then finishing out the week with Homecoming games, it has been a whirlwind. I want to say a quick thanks to all the families that came in to say hi and talk about the amazing work your kids are doing. Here is to a great second quarter.

Lots of games happening tonight at home. Both JV and Varsity Lady Volleyball games are happening in the nest. JV is playing RIGHT NOW and Varsity plays at 5pm. Later, at 7pm, the Pig Skin will fly on the field. Come check out the excitement.

Please see below for what we’ve been working on in the classroom:

English IV: It has been awhile since we read our epic Beowulf, so we spent a few days recapping and reviewing before diving into binaries in literature. We will finish reading and discussing Beowulf next week.

English III: We put on our poetry hats this week and wrote a poem about one of our favorite things. This was a highly structured poem that really challenged the students. I am loving what I’m seeing so far. Ask them to share with you.

English I-Honors: We reviewed Animal Farm and spent the week fixing errors in any quizzes and we then prepared for our Socratic Seminar on Monday.

AP English Literature: After reading a book over fall break, they began compiling information on symbolism, character development, writing style, and so much more. Once they have all the necessary information they began putting together a one-pager. This is due on Monday, so they have the weekend to put on any finishing touches.

That is everything for now, but if something comes up or you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out. My door is always open. Have a great weekend.

Best, Ms. Kovach
