English III > Week 9

 In English III

Happy Saturday, Roadrunners!

I hope you are all enjoying this warm Saturday afternoon and taking time for yourselves. My apologies for being a little late on my email. This week went by rather quickly and I can not believe that next week is the final week before Fall break and the end of quarter one. We spent an extra day in class this week working on completing any missing assignments; it seemed like a good majority of students used this time well. A few others were probably scrambling to turn in missing work before the 4pm deadline on Friday! Here is a quick rundown on what we have been doing:

We have been knee deep in poetry and I have found that some kids either love it or…they absolutely despise it. I try to tell them that poetry is just like music and I don’t know anyone that doesn’t enjoy music! We even did a compare/contrast between Pop Music and Classical Poetry. That helped them to see the connection and how similar they really are to one another.

With the cultural fair on the horizon, we are going to begin conducting our research next week and preparing for the beginning stages of their projects. Even though next week we have half days on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, I am still encouraging you to send your kids to school. The learning does not stop or get put on hold those days, so anything discussed or assigned during that time will be up to your student to make up.

There are a few things we need for our classroom, so if you stumble across them over break I would be grateful: Clorox wipes, paper towels, and pencils.

Thanks for your time! I hope you all have an amazing weekend. See you Monday.

Best,
Ms. K
