Happy Saturday, Roadrunners!

I hope you are all enjoying this warm Saturday afternoon and taking time for yourselves. My apologies for being a little late on my email. This week went by rather quickly and I can not believe that next week is the final week before Fall break and the end of quarter one. We spent an extra day in class this week working on completing any missing assignments; it seemed like a good majority of students used this time well. A few others were probably scrambling to turn in missing work before the 4pm deadline on Friday! Here is a quick rundown on what we have been doing:

We finished reading Animal Farm and it has been an amazing journey with this group of kids. I have thoroughly enjoyed our discussions, especially when looking at the analogy this book serves in regards to the Soviet Union. We are mid review now and will be taking a test next week. After break, we will be reading Persepolis, so if you would like to have your own copy I suggest picking one up over break. It is not required for you to buy one; I have enough for each student. For those students online, we will need to figure out a time to swap out Animal Farm for Persepolis. Perhaps sometime after Tuesday would work best. Please let me know if you have any questions.

With the cultural fair on the horizon, we are going to begin conducting our research next week and preparing for the beginning stages of their projects. Even though next week we have half days on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, I am still encouraging you to send your kids to school. The learning does not stop or get put on hold those days, so anything discussed or assigned during that time will be up to your student to make up.

There are a few things we need for our classroom, so if you stumble across them over break I would be grateful: Clorox wipes, paper towels, and pencils.

Thanks for your time! I hope you all have an amazing weekend. See you Monday.

Best,
Ms. K
