English w/Kovach > Week 5

In AP English Literature, English I Honors, English III, English IV

Happy Friday, Roadrunners!

What a great way to end the week; the Pep Rally was “Lit” (insert eye roll). In case you didn’t know, we have our first Varsity football game of the season at The Nest TONIGHT at 7pm. Gates open at 6pm and it is a WHITE OUT. Come dine on some street tacos and brownies while watching our boys defend the nest. GO ROADRUNNERS!

Now back to business…here is what we’ve been working on:

English I-Honors: All the skills we’ve been discussing were finally put into practice. We wrote an extended response to our story “Marigolds” and from what I’ve seen so far, we have some very creative students. I’m looking forward to our next chapter.

English III: We finished our reading and thorough discussion of “The Story of an Hour” and are now putting the finishing touches on a Literary Analysis. Here is where students are asked to put all the skills they have learned over the last week and a half together and show me what they got!

English IV: This first story has been a bit of a challenge, but we finally made it through and we even analyzed informational story elements successfully. I’m excited to see what they all come up with on Monday.

AP English Literature: We finished our first book and have spent much of this week using our new skills to analyze “A Garden Party” and then take part in a Socratic Seminar. We went through this book quickly, but I can tell we have retained a great amount of new knowledge to take with us. I’m eager to go on this journey the rest of the year!

As a quick reminder, I will have all assignments that were turned in today by 4pm, graded by Monday at 4pm. Anything turned in after 4pm today, will not get graded until the following weekend!

That is all for now. If you see me at the game, stop by and say hi. As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Have an amazing weekend!
