Happy Friday, Roadrunners!
Wow, what a busy week! Thank you for keeping your kiddos home when they are feeling under the weather. It is greatly appreciated.
It is imperative that all students come to school prepared. This means arriving on time, coming with a positive attitude and a readiness to learn, but it also means coming with a charged computer (with charger), notebook and writing utensil. Without these items, students are not prepared and they miss out on valuable information and help with assignments.
I have always had a pretty lenient food, drink and gum policy, but lately that is being taken advantage of. I am seeing more and more garbage left behind and…chewed up gum on my floors. If this continues, I will have a zero tolerance policy in my classroom. Please remind them to be courteous and clean up after themselves.
English IV: We learned many new skills this week as we read our short story, “Are the New ‘Golden Age’ TV Shows the New Novels?” We covered context clues and reading comprehension and worked together to complete a challenging quiz and then compose our own text dependent responses to analytical questions. They were troopers.
English III: We read and discussed Kate Chopin’s “The Story of an Hour”. We fine-tuned our skills in reading comprehension, deciphering context clues and coming up with analytical responses using textual evidence. We will continue this journey next week.
English I-Honors: We dove deep into our short story “Marigolds” and revisited context clues, reading comprehension, formulating text dependent responses using the best example from a text, and tracked the development of a character. It was a jam packed week.
AP Literature: We are over halfway done with our book, How to Read Literature Like a Professor and we’ve had many amazing discussions. Who knew that rain wasn’t just rain, and that the premise behind fairy tales were often repeated throughout literature? These were just a few topics of conversation. We also completed our 2nd AP Vocabulary quiz and this one was by far better than the first! They are getting the hang of it!! We will continue our reading next week and most likely finish the book by the end of the week! We are moving fast.
Thank you again for sharing your kids with me. Should you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Have an amazing weekend!
