Feb. 24-28 (Mythology)
Good Afternoon, Roadrunners.
It is so hard to believe that Spring Break is just a week and a half away! I can say with 100 percent certainty that these kids are ready for a break.
I introduced a new group project last week for our Norse Mythology unit. This unit is student driven and requires them to work as a team in order to be successful. They are setting their schedule for reading and holding each other accountable. So far, this has been successful. I have given the students set deadlines for specific larger items, but the mini pieces along the way are all up to them. This will help them in their endeavors outside of school as well. I am eager to see how they help each other out and redirect if necessary. I have told them if they need me to intervene at any time, that I will gladly do so. I am also checking in with them daily to hold them accountable, but without putting too much pressure on them.
Tomorrow is a half day and then Thursday there is the field trip to the Renaissance Festival. I am lucky enough to be chaperoning so I will not be in any classes on Thursday. I do have assignments already uploaded onto Google Classroom and have explained them in class. Students should be well aware of what is expected of them this week.
A quick reminder that all work from Quarter 3 is due by this Friday, February 28th. Unless there is an extenuating circumstance or prior arrangements have been made, I will not accept late work past this point. This should be standard in all classes.
Next week we have half days Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in preparation for Conferences. I know many kids don’t see the importance of coming to school on these half days, but I can assure you that we are still learning and working in my class. If a student is absent during those times, they are still responsible for making up any work. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide them with any lecture I might give in class, but they are always welcome to come see me.
I am in my classroom most mornings at 7:30am and usually stay until 4:15. If your student is struggling with getting work turned in or understanding an assignment, please send them in.
