Week 31

In AP English Literature, English I Honors, English III, English IV

Happy Sunday, Roadrunners!

What a crazy week with testing happening every day, but we managed to stay afloat and keep our energy positive. Students were troopers this week!! I suggest Ice Cream for everyone! 🙂  This is a long email with some important info near the bottom, please read everything! Thanks!!

English I-Honors: We started the week with peer review, then we had ACT Aspire Testing and we rounded out the week by beginning our unit on To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. The students and I are super excited to read this. It won’t be a quick read, and some of the content is a bit hard to swallow, but it is a text that every freshman should read.

English III: We began the week learning about Realism, Naturalism and Regionalism. Tuesday we had ACT Testing; Wednesday and Thursday we did research on author, William Faulkner and Friday we began reading As I Lay Dying.

English IV: The week started with a discussion of Victorianism and ended with an introduction to Oscar Wilde’s play, The Importance of Being Earnest.

AP Literature: We spent the week finishing our Independent Novel Project assignments. They had an outline to complete on Monday, then Juniors took the ACT test on Tuesday and the remainder of the week was spent creating their final INP projects. This week we begin reading Frankenstein!

If you’ve made it this far, you might be thinking I’m crazy! Somehow I managed to have myself reading 4 different texts all at once!! Thank goodness I’ve read them all before, but still, I like to reread with the kids to stay fresh! Ok….let’s keep going. You’re doing great!
